For step 3 my Extra English classes worked on the story "Friends". It took 4 lessons to complete this step.
LESSON 1: I have asked them to work in
small groups of three students. Each group had to read the fable aloud playing
the role of the monkey, the antelope and the narrator of the story. Next
they had to complete the story by adding the lion’s sentence and writing the
ending of the story.
LESSON 2: Each group shared their ideas
with the rest of class. Some of them didn’t grab the real meaning of the story
at the beginning and came up with some funny and original sentences.
“I’m vegan! I won’t eat you!” by Gemma
“I won’t eat you, I’ll eat another
antelope!” by Pietro
“I’m just looking for some friends!” by Martina
Some of them caught it immediately.
“Today you’re safe, but you have to
learn how to choose a real friend” Niccolò G.
“Be careful! That monkey is selfish!” by Niccolò R
“That monkey isn’t a real friend, also
I don’t like the taste of the antelopes. No offence!!” by Ilaria
It was funny to read all the sentences aloud and sharing different perspectives and points of view.
LESSON 3: Students were asked to write down the sentences in the shared presentation. Eventually I launched a Google Form with some of the most popular sentences and asked them to choose and vote the best one.
LESSON 4: I have asked my students to discuss about the topic of firendship and write their personal comments on the forum section. Each students was encouraged to answer to the following questions :
- What's the best book or story you have ever read about friendship?
- Are you a good friend?
- Better one best friend or many friends?
- What is a real friend? What qualities do you look for in a friend?
Next we got ready to celebrate the
E-Twinning Day. I didn’t expect my students to be so involved in this creative
activity. I let them choose the idea for the picture and this is what we came
up with:
On the 9th of May we watched the video created
with our partners. They were proud to be part of this amazing project!!!
You are great,kids
