STEP 4 - THE ORB: collaborative work
A group of students from the partner school realized this video with MovieMaker.
Not all of the orbs are in the video of course, but this product represent our reflection: we notice that in our future we see similar things even if we come from different countries.
These things have to do with what we found in our readings and during the steps of our project: personal fulfillment, relationships, hopes and... travels. As adults we dream of being European citizens or better, citizens of the world.
STEP 4 - me and my future, IC2 Arnolfo di Cambio, primary and secondary
As well as the "boomerang" activity, we worked of course on the common reading chosen by the partners (Harry Potter, the orb).
We decided to introduce the topic of "what I see in my future" starting with a reflection on the importance of memory. For this reason, we watched the video "A message for my grandchild. And for the rest of Europe" by the European Parliament.
STEP 4 - ME AND MY FUTURE (OŠ RUDOLFA STROHALA LOKVE - CROATIA)
My students and I embraced the idea of Harry Potter as the starting point on their work in Step 4 of the project: thinking about their own future in ten years from now and then trying to express their wishes and predictions into words. In the end we put our work on the "Orb" on the pinboard in the hall just outside the English classroom for other students and teachers to see and read.
STEP 4: Me and my Future - IC2 Poggibonsi - class 3C/D (Italy)
Step 4 was about future. As suggested we read a short extract from chapter 15 of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and we watched the short clip on Youtube.
Then each student was given an empty orb to be filled in with 3 pictures representing their life in 10 years.
Next we collected all their drawings in an ebook and we converted it in the following video.
Enjoy watching and reading!!
In the end I asked my students to write their own ideas and hopes in the collaborative forum section on the blog.
This was a good opportunity to share everything with their partners from all over Europe and wish all of them the best for their future!
STEP 4- ME AND MY FUTURE - SAINT JOSEPH PRIMARY SCHOOL-PEFKI**GREECE
After reading the text and watching the extract of the film with Professor Trelawney and Harry, they coloured and drew their orbs.

STEP 4 - Me and my future: a boomerang for my future (primary and lower secondary classes IC2 Arnolfo di Cambio)
May, Monday the 20th
Class 1° B (secondary) and Class 5° B primary met in order to work together on STEP 4 of our project: we were ready to read for our future!
We started the reflection reading the poem below. Then, the students where paired (do you remember? each secondary student paired with a primary student at the beginning of the project). They draw and painted a boomerang writing on it the words or sentences they wanted to throw to their future.
We eventually shared our words and made a poster out of our boomerang.
Another beautiful eTwinning day!
I throw in the future something new, so when the future comes, I'll find it. I throw in the future something good, something mine, so when the future comes, I'll be there.
Step 4 - me and my future-Artova Gazipasa Primary School
Coming from 'The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban',we looked at our future in our orbs.
My students were very excited again to hear this time what they would deal with.
We both read the part and watched its video to get a full understanding.
I handed out orb pictures to my students and asked them where and how they see themselves in 10 years.
Here are their works
STEP 4 - collaborative activity: WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE ORB?
As usual, we open a new activity with a suggested common reading.
This time, we chose "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", where the 3rd year students are introduced to the art of Divination and fortune-telling.
Activity:
1) Read with your students the paragraph where Miss Trelawney, the Seer, introduces the Orb (chapter 15).
2) The students discuss the meaning of the scene.
3) Give the students the printed crystal ball picture (above) and tell them to think of their life, 10 years in the future. They have to draw into the ball three images that represent their life in 10 years.
4) The students share their drawings and discuss them.
5) They eventually write a short paragraph about their life in the future (who they want to be, where they want to be, doing what, with whom...).
6) They discuss the topic with their partners (we will have a STEP 4 - forum section + during the live events).
7) Materials will be collected in a common product.
STEP 4 - me and my future
Are you ready for the final step in our project?
It's time for us to have a look at our future!
The leading question for this step is:
“How do I imagine my future?”
(what I would like to do when I grow up, where I will live, who will be with me...)
